Willem van Holten received a thorough training in photography at the photographer and studio of Cees de Bont, in addition to his study at the photo academy. In the following years, photography and work in the automotive industry was the common thread in his career from presentations and advertising photography to reports of events and rallies for automobile magazines, not only as spectator but also active participated rally driver up to and including participation in the Rally Paris-Dakar.
